Leadership

BKI's governance structure is based on the proposed constitution. Current officeholder names, photographs, biographies and terms should be published only when verified by BKI through the CMS.

The proposed constitution describes three principal governing bodies: the Global Council, the Executive Committee and the Council of Chapter Presidents. Together, they provide strategic leadership, day-to-day coordination, chapter representation, policy oversight and accountability.

• Global Council: The highest governing and policy-making body, responsible for strategic leadership, policies, finances, accountability and safeguarding the mission.
• Executive Committee: The eleven Global Officers who conduct day-to-day affairs, implement Global Council decisions, coordinate programs and report to the Global Council.
• Council of Chapter Presidents: Presidents of recognized chapters who elect elected Global Officers, ratify appointments and serve as the primary link between local chapters and global governance.
• Recognized chapters: Local membership, engagement and program units represented by their Chapter President or an officially designated representative.

The President serves as Chief Executive Officer and principal spokesperson. The Vice President supports executive responsibilities and strategic initiatives. The General Secretary maintains records, notices, correspondence and archives. The Treasurer safeguards funds, budgets, reporting and financial compliance.

Appointed officers support fundraising, chapter development, women's affairs, youth affairs, culture and heritage, public communications, and programs and community impact.
