About BKI

Banyankole Kweterana International (BKI) is a nonprofit cultural and community organization that brings together Banyankole people and friends of Ankole throughout the world. BKI exists to promote unity, preserve cultural identity, encourage mutual support and advance social, educational, cultural, humanitarian and economic development.

BKI is organized around a simple public purpose: to unite Banyankole people worldwide while preserving heritage and improving the lives of communities for future generations.

The organization welcomes Banyankole by birth or descent, individuals married into the Banyankole community, and friends of Ankole who support its mission and objectives.

BKI's official motto, "Ageteraine Nigo Gata Igufa," means "Unity is Strength." It reflects the organization's commitment to mutual respect, inclusion, shared responsibility and service across chapters and communities.
